Disco//Oslo – Allesfresser (EP) (2011) (Germany)
Some days ago, Julian (guitar player of the German punk band Disco//Oslo) contacted me via last.fm and asked me, to put their free EP ALLESFRESSER on this blog.
This EP contains three awesome punk songs and its cover art.
They will release their full length on May 11th in Germany.
Captain, We’re Sinking-The Animals Are Out (lp), demo (ep), It’s a Trip (ep), With Joe Riley (ep)
genre: sounds like 90’s Punk, Emotive Hardcore,
Thoughts: I know this is the first post for me on this site, I love music, and I intend on sharing it with you…I just heard of this band, and I instantly liked them. They remind me of some of my hometown sounds such as The Riot Before, and another now defunct band In Circles. I will post them in due time…. I look forward to sharing my musical knowledge with you all. Happy blogging, and check them out, they have a slight gritty sound to them not totally indecisive but kinda raspy, Think cleaner than Hot Water Music but has Chuck Ragan’s Angst. Check out there website. Good lyrics, they remind me of early Boy Sets Fire, or Snapcase type of lyrics….
Hail Seizures – For The Ruin
Location: Olympia Washington, USA
Notes: Hail Seizures is a really interesting Folk-Punk band that usually plays the streets and festivals around WA, if your around Bumbershoot or Folklife in Seattle you might be able to hear them play. I’m generally not a fan of folk punk as I haven’t heard a lot of really good punk come out of that genre that I actually liked, but the lyrics and the style is interesting, it seems more intense then normal gypsy-punk, multiple vocalists, as they all sing here or there, they usually have a toy piano on hand, they just finished a short NW tour, are working on a new split, and are soon to tour Europe in June. If your a fan of roots-punk or people like Blackbird Raum, then this is one to check out.
Ten Thousand Leagues – Demo 2010
notes: Ten Thousand Leagues is a screamo/hardcore/punk hybrid band from California with members of Caculator, Colorchromatic, Moldar, Summer Vacation, etc. For me, the music is very intense and chaotic resembling some screamo fusion of elements from bands like Loma Prieta, Jeromes Dream, Orchid, Joshua Fit For Battle, Comadre integrated with punk/hardcore similar to Majority Rule. Definitely unique mixture of these genres. I may be bias to say this release rules because I am a Calculator and Moldar fan boy, but check this out regardless. Thanks to Mark for the link!
Drooling Slits – Discography (2010)
genre: Thrash Punk
notes: Drooling Slits were a short lived thrash punk/power-violence band from Kansas City, Missouri. They were just high school kids that used music as an outlet for hating school and social awkwardness. They’re really good friends of mine and this post is way overdue. When they broke up it was a sad day for me and our local punk scene. Get this no matter what kind of music you listen to.
ColorChromatic – Tenet (2010)
bitrate: 320 kBit/s
notes: ColorChromatic is a skramz-esque band from California. So many good releases this year. This is definitely one to add to that list. Some of you might not even call this screamo but who cares good music is good music. Elements of punk rock, hardcore, and rock are present. Definitely check it out.
Black Hole Kids – Demo (2010)
bitrate: 160 kBit/s
genre: Screamo, Punk
notes: Yesterday I was contacted by a very friendly member of BHK, so he gave me their demo to take a listen. Honestly, instant liking of the tunes! The four songs continued to spin nonstop on my player, since I was quite attracted by the vocal and the sort of catchyness of the melodies. BHK is influenced by a variety of genres, such as crust, punk, screamo and post-hardcore, but the thing I liked the most was the ever clinging tone of ’80s hardcore. Very interesting band, hope you boys and girls check them out.
36 Daggers – Kalpa Minutes (2004)
bitrate: 192 kBit/s
genre: Punk, Emo
notes: Brilliant band, definitely take a listen. Write comments about your thoughts here, I am really interested in what you think about their music. Enjoy!
