  • Blue Tape Collective: Volume 1 (2011)
By on September 9th, 2011 | No Comments Comments

This is a compilation put together by Blue Tape Collective (started by two dudes in Featherweight). Seriously, this compilation is amazing. It’s building awareness for diy bands in the scene which is extremely important. Also, it hopes to get some exposure for some bands you might not hear otherwise. It’s got a lot of different styles such as screamo, hardcore, indie-rock, noodely emo, acoustic, and spoken word. There are a couple of unreleased tracks on this as well. So check it out! Here’s the tracklisting:

    1. Code Orange Kids – Cycles (The Days Get Longer)
    2. Old Gray – City Orchards
    3. Judges – Cluttered Minds
    4. Dowsing – …And That’s Why You Always Leave A Note! (Acoustic Demo)
    5. Centennial – Paper Thin
    6. Old Accusers – The Wait
    7. Deadhorse – No Particular Night Or Morning

  • Duck. Little Brother, Duck! – Tour Demo (2011)
    By on July 26th, 2011 | 128 Comments128 Comments Comments

    genre: Screamo/Math-Rock/Emo/Post-Rock/Fuck Yes
    country: USA

Duck. Little Brother, Duck! is a post-music band from Portland, OR. They’re insanely spastic about keeping time signatures and styles but it makes for one of the most interesting bands to listen to ever. A lot of math-rock, screamo, emo, and post-rock put together but in a unique manner. In addition to that the musicianship of each member in the band is so impressive. They recently went on tour and this is the demo that accompanied them. With three songs 6 minutes + songs this EP is a monster. The amazing thing is that each song holds your attention the entire time. Definitely check this out if you haven’t heard of them and you can also find their full length Survival Is Not A Workout for free download on bandcamp. They will be recording a new album soon so get pumped.

    genre: Screamo
    country: USA
notes:  iwontstopwonderinguntilyoustopbreathing is a screamo band from Michigan bringing  a style of music reminiscent of Jeromes Dream (think before the voice was blown). In Braille is a screamo band from Texas bringing a style of music reminiscent of Toru Okada. This split is SERIOUSLY fucking good. Both bands compliment each other so well. Please download it and support if you can.

  • The Speed of Sound in Seawater
    By on May 9th, 2011 | 111 Comments111 Comments Comments

    genre: Math-Pop/Indie-Pop/Twinkle
    country: USA
notes: I wanted to post something a bit different. The Speed of Sound in Seawater is a math-pop band from California. They just released a new album entitled Underwater Tell Each Other Secrets. The music is insanely beautiful and there’s a lot going on. Smooth vocals, noodely guitar, and jazzy bass/drums. The sound is pretty consistent throughout all the EPs but unlike some other bands that’s a good fucking thing. They also have two other EPs entitled Red Version and Blue Version that are included in this download. Fans of Algernon Cadwallader, American Football, Toe, and Malegoat. Do it now. Support them if you can though. They’re DIY as fuck. ps. Happy Mothers Day!

    By on April 6th, 2011 | 124 Comments124 Comments Comments

    genre: Screamo
    country: USA
notes: Olive Cotard is a newly formed screamo band from Kansas City, MO that formed out of members of Sports, Regret the Informer, and Baitfish. They have a chaotic yet melodic style that is a mixture of Neil Perry and Yaphet Kotto. They are seriously one of the best bands I have heard in awhile so definitely don’t sleep on this.
