notes: A few days ago I talked to Chris (while I was on my quest for info on Lobo’s Son and he happens to be the mastermind behind the amazing project) and as it turns out he also plays drums in Fuck,Wolves!. I must admit I completely forgot about this band, shame on me. Short songs, chaos, all that jazz, definitely download, I really dig this stuff. And cool name!

Pre-Life At These Speeds. And that’s about all I’ll say. Just take a listen, this is amazing stuff.

    country: Germany
notes: After a mail from this band and after me getting the dload link, I very gladly rush over here to post. I’m really not a big fan of hardcore, but this stuff is great! Seven songs of fast rhythms, great tune build-ups and occasional scream-a-longs, this band brings us almost 20 minutes of brilliant tunes. Check them out, hope they start touring soon!
Also, look them up on their myspace www.myspace.com/rhamusik

notes: We are on the doorstep of 2010 and also getting close to the amazing Cry Me A River festival (which I will finally and hopefully attend) and here is the first band announced to play at the fest. So what to expect from their tunes? Well, what can you expect from a band named after an Orchid song….ass-kicking! Download them and enjoy, really interesting tunes!

notes: SYLO loves new bands and loves supporting them even more! So these young lads have sent us their first recorded song. Simply put, it’s kick ass! Kinda reminds me of “Fuck, Wolves!”, high amount screaming, clapping, splashing drums, rending guitar and overall chaos, definitely check them out, I sense potential here.

  • Bare Arms – 3” EP

    Download

    bitrate: 160 kBit/s
    genre: Emo, Screamo
    country: Australia
notes: This band I reeeeally like! And it was a great surprise when Thomas, a dude from Bare Arms, contacted me about putting a link up on the blog…don’t mind if I do! Excellent band, with a great reputation of playing with famous bands such as Daniel Stripped Tiger, La Dispute… Angry and sometimes slow and gentle vocals, with fast pounding tunes make your chest pound while listening. First two songs on this release are probably the best female vocal featuring songs I have ever heard. Oh and by the way, they have the best description on Lastfm…ever!
    “Bare Arms come from Sydney.
They are made of a High School Teacher, a Design Student, a Printing Student and a Personal Assistant/ Vegan Cupcake Baker.
Some of them played in the Thaw and When Chimps Attack
They are a band and act as such”

    Download

    bitrate: 192 kBit/s
    genre: Screamo
    country: Australia
notes: One more Australian screamo wonder, with both interesting name and interesting tunes. Constantly changing rhythm and shifts in vocals, their release really make you listen through it with one breath so to speak. Sadly they released only this ep (they can also be found on several compilations. I’m not sure about the year of the release, but the band itself existed from 2003 to 2005. Enjoy!

  • Contour – Pre-Production EP (2009)

    Download

    bitrate: 192 kBit/s
    genre: Screamo, Progressive, Hardcore
    country: Australia
notes: So Douglas (vocalist in Contour) contacted me to check them out and post if I like them. And I must say, I’m quite happy I found out about these young lads, since they play some very interesting and unique tunes. A blend of a few styles, they offer very heavy, sometimes mid tempo, sometimes fast, sometimes slow and gentle tunes, with kinda mathcore stop-start rhythms and very interesting singing/screaming. The mood of songs shifts also, from sort of depressive and lost, to kinda just downright angry. This all probably sounds thrown together and stupidly written, but this band really offers a bunch of enjoyment in their tunes and you really can’t pinpoint them to one specific genre. Definitely check them out! Also visit their myspaz http://www.myspace.com/contourmelbourne

  • Eucalypt – NZ Tour cd

    Download

    bitrate: 160 kBit/s
    genre: Screamo
    country: Australia
notes: I’d like to open the Australian screamo days with this amazing band. Formed in 2006, Eucalypt enjoyed a place from which it was compared to bands such as La Quiete and Raein, although it had a style of it’s own, particularly the guitar playing with no distortion. Amazing songs pumped up with fast paced rhythm and unbelievable vocals, Eucalypt really deserves it’s spot high and proud. Kepela!!!
