Ursa TheodorusBy thestarsinjanuary on April 18th, 2011 | 113 Comments
genre: Screamo
country: USA
notes: Ursa Theodorus was unfortunately one of those screamo bands that weren’t around for a very long time. This is most of their released material. It’s very unique. Sort of like a more ambient Toru Okada. The noodlely guitar riffs and multiple vox hit home hard. The members went on to form Armorwrists, which also fucking rules. -

Hail Seizures – For The RuinBy CyberiaLain on April 6th, 2011 | 122 Comments
Genre: Folk-Punk/Gypsy-Punk
Location: Olympia Washington, USA
Notes: Hail Seizures is a really interesting Folk-Punk band that usually plays the streets and festivals around WA, if your around Bumbershoot or Folklife in Seattle you might be able to hear them play. I’m generally not a fan of folk punk as I haven’t heard a lot of really good punk come out of that genre that I actually liked, but the lyrics and the style is interesting, it seems more intense then normal gypsy-punk, multiple vocalists, as they all sing here or there, they usually have a toy piano on hand, they just finished a short NW tour, are working on a new split, and are soon to tour Europe in June. If your a fan of roots-punk or people like Blackbird Raum, then this is one to check out. -
Olive Cotard – Olive Cotard (2011)By thestarsinjanuary on April 6th, 2011 | 124 Comments
genre: Screamo
country: USA
notes: Olive Cotard is a newly formed screamo band from Kansas City, MO that formed out of members of Sports, Regret the Informer, and Baitfish. They have a chaotic yet melodic style that is a mixture of Neil Perry and Yaphet Kotto. They are seriously one of the best bands I have heard in awhile so definitely don’t sleep on this. -
Texas Instruments – I Feel Bad For Saying This, But I’m Just Not Having Any Fun Anymore (2011)By thestarsinjanuary on April 6th, 2011 | 120 Comments
genre: Emo/Screamo/Dude-Rock
country: USA
notes: Texas Instruments is a group of friends from Kansas City, MO playing emo and post-hardcore influenced screamo. They have an intensely unique style. The recent addition of two more members definitely makes TI have a fuller sound. This is their newest demo which improves greatly upon past recordings. They’ll be touring the US during the summer so definitely support them if you can. They live and breathe DIY.
